The Arizona Humane Society (AHS) is the state’s largest nonprofit animal-welfare and protection agency. Annually, AHS takes in more than 50,000 unwanted, sick, abused and injured animals. Since its establishment in 1957, AHS has grown remarkably in scope and size. Today it offers numerous programs and services to benefit animals…and the people who love them. A private, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, AHS is funded by donations and does not receive any government funding. AHS observed its 50th anniversary in 2007 and celebrated five decades of improving the lives of animals in Arizona.

Finding Fido

Finding Fido is a rescue group dedicated to reducing euthanasia of adoptable animals in shelters with a special fondness for the seniors and special needs animals, as they are often overlooked. While in the care of Finding Fido, the animals live in foster homes. In addition to animal care and adoption programs, Finding Fido assists pet owners who have lost their pets by daily shelter checks at area shelters.

Since 1995 Foothills Animal Rescue (FAR) has worked to help solve the problem of unwanted, abandoned, abused, and lost cats and dogs in the Cave Creek, Carefree, New River, North Scottsdale, and the Desert Hills areas. A private, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, FAR operates as a no-kill organization, fostering displaced animals in the homes of dedicated volunteers until owners are located or suitable new homes are found. The mission of FAR is to provide shelter, care and adoption services for many of the thousands of domestic cats and dogs that stray, become lost or are abandoned each year in Maricopa County.

HALO Animal Rescue

HALO Animal Rescue (HALO) is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to ending pet overpopulation. Founded in 1994, HALO provides temporary shelter to abandoned cats and dogs until a permanent home can be found. Each year, HALO places more than 2,500 abandoned animals in loving, forever homes. HALO believes in the unique individuality of every dog and cat they rescue. Their gentle hearts, good health and "forever" happiness are HALO's top concern.

Home 'Fur' Good, Animal Rescue & Placement (HFG) is a group of individuals who are animal lovers at heart, that have banded together to make a positive difference in the lives of homeless dogs and cats in Maricopa County. Many of us met through either working or volunteering with other organizations and over the years formed strong friendships. Together we have aligned our diverse strengths to create an organization that allows us to share our love and compassion for dogs and cats in need. We formed HFG in August 2009.

Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) is dedicated to promoting and protecting the health, safety and welfare of people and pets in Maricopa County. MCACC is a full service animal welfare agency with animal care shelters, adoptions, enforcement services and licensing. Each year, MCACC takes in more than 50,000 unwanted or stray animals. MCACC strives to take care of animals and to be proactive and offer programs to prevent problems before they occur. MCACC is a part of Maricopa County but receives minimal funding from the County. The majority of the funds needed to shelter and save the lives of thousands of animals comes from donations, dog licenses, service contracts and program fees.

Sun Valley Animal Shelter

Since 1995, Sun Valley Animal Shelter (SVAS) has provided loving, compassionate care to unwanted dogs and cats of the Northwest Valley. SVAS strives to give comfortable, temporary housing, medical care and vaccinations, good food and companionship to the scores of homeless companion animals that need their help finding loving, permanent families. SVAS is a no-kill organization and the only animal shelter for cats and dogs in the West Valley. As a 501(c)(3) organization, SVAS depends on tax deductible donations from caring members within the community to continue its work to save lives.
